The research work is engaged in design of pressure equipment. The focus are static design checks. Conservative static design checks are further developed and weak points of pressure vessel standards are investigated.
The group emphases that the design checks are directly connected to the expected failure mechanisms and the possible designs are not constrained due to traditional rules and stress limits.
In addition to the design checks against short time loading (Gross Plastic Deformation Design Check, and Stability Design Check), the design checks for damage, like fatigue and creep, are of special interest.
In the field of inspection and testing of pressure equipment, the group is engaged on acoustic emission examination.
In the field of plant design, the group is mainly interested in safety engineering.
